Summary
West Red Lake Gold announced high-grade gold assay results from the first five holes of its surface drilling program at the historic Starratt-Olsen Mine in the Red Lake Mining District. Highlights include 1.5m at 16.16 g/t Au and 1.5m at 10.94 g/t Au. The company views these results as highly encouraging, demonstrating Madsen-style mineralization and advancing its multi-asset strategy to feed the nearby Madsen Mine and mill, with significant potential for depth extension.
Reasoning: The announcement reports high-grade gold intercepts from the first modern drilling at Starratt-Olsen, confirming mineralization and supporting the company's strategic 'Hub and Spoke' model. While widths are narrow, the grades are significant, and the potential for depth extension is highlighted, backed by historical data. Strong QA/QC and QP sign-off add confidence.
Positive factors
- High-grade gold intercepts, including bonanza grades, demonstrate significant mineralization potential.
- First modern drilling program at Starratt-Olsen successfully confirmed Madsen-style mineralization near historic workings.
- Strategic importance of Starratt-Olsen to the company's 'Hub and Spoke' model, aiming to feed the Madsen mill.
- Potential for depth extension of the main ore shoot, with historic results supporting high-grade continuity at depth.
- Detailed QA/QC procedures and QP sign-off enhance the credibility of the results.
- Estimated true width of >=70% of downhole thickness provides better context than typical apparent width reporting.
Negative factors
- Intercept widths are generally narrow, which could impact economic viability for bulk mining methods.
- True thickness is estimated rather than precisely calculated, introducing some uncertainty.
- Reliance on historical data for deep extension potential, with some historical samples lacking verified QA/QC.
Low confidence — this extraction should be reviewed alongside the original source.

Classification and evidence
Bonanza Interceptpositive
Exceptionally high-grade zone, well above the deposit-type norm.
Why it applies: Hole WRL26-054 intersected 0.85m @ 24.60 g/t Au, which is an exceptionally high grade for an orogenic gold deposit. Historical hole PG16-198 also returned 3m @ 104.1 g/t Au.

“0.85m @ 24.60 g/t Au”
QA/QC Disclosedpositive
Release includes QA/QC disclosure — certified lab, QP sign-off, or stated methods (blanks, standards, duplicates).
Why it applies: The release includes a detailed Quality Assurance/Quality Control section, mentioning standard reference materials, blanks, sample security, and analysis by an ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accredited laboratory.
Evidence · text
“QUALITY ASSURANCE/QUALITY CONTROL Drilling completed at the Starratt Mine consists of oriented HQ-sized diamond drill core. All drill holes are systematically logged, photographed, and sampled by a trained geologist at the core processing facility located at the Madsen Mine. Minimum allowable sample length is 0.5m. Maximum allowable sample length is 1.5m. Standard reference materials and blanks are inserted at a targeted 10% insertion rate. After logging, the core is then cut lengthwise utilizing a diamond blade core saw along a line pre-selected by the geologist. To reduce sampling bias, the same side of drill core is sampled consistently utilizing the orientation line as reference. For those samples containing visible gold (“VG”), a trained geologist supervises the cutting/bagging of those samples, and ensures the core saw blade is ‘cleaned’ with a dressing stone following the VG sample interval. Bagged samples are then sealed with zip ties with additional security tags, and transported by freight courier to AGAT Laboratories, Thunder Bay, Ontario for assay. Samples were submitted to AGAT Laboratories for preparation and analysis. Samples were dried and crushed to 75% passing 2 millimetres (“mm”), with a 250-gram (“g”) split retained for analysis (AGAT code: 200-075). The split was then pulverized to 85% passing 75 microns using steel pulverizing bowls (AGAT code: 200-087). Gold analyses were completed by lead collection fire assay with an ICP-OES finish for gold, platinum, and palladium on a 30 g aliquot (AGAT code: 202-055). Selected drill core samples were also analyzed for multi-element geochemistry using a four-acid digestion followed by ICP-OES/ICP-MS analysis (AGAT code: 201-071), a near-total digestion method suitable for a wide range of geological materials and trace element determination. AGAT Laboratories operate under a Quality Management System accredited to ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standards. The technical information presented in this news release has been reviewed and approved by Will Robinson, P.Geo., Vice President of Exploration for West Red Lake Gold and the Qualified Person for exploration at the West Red Lake Project, as defined by NI 43-101. Mr. Robinson is not independent of WRLG.”

Why it applies: The document clearly states the internal dilution rules for composite intervals, specifying that it does not exceed 1m for samples grading <0.1 g/t Au.
Evidence · text
“Internal dilution for composite intervals does not exceed 1m for samples grading <0.1 g/t Au.”
Apparent Width Onlynegative
Interval given as downhole width with no true width or drill orientation — apparent width may overstate true thickness.
Why it applies: The document explicitly states that 'True thickness has not been calculated for these intercepts', indicating that reported lengths are downhole widths.
Evidence · text
“True thickness has not been calculated for these intercepts”
Step-Out Extensionpositive
Mineralization extended beyond the previously known limit.
Why it applies: The drill program targeted 'up- and down-plunge extensions to previously mined panels at Starratt' and aims to explore the 'main Starratt ore shoot at depth'.
Evidence · text
“Targeted areas focused on up- and down-plunge extensions to previously mined panels at Starratt - investigating for unmined portions of previously defined mineralization and testing for new sub-parallel lenses”
Nearology Playneutral
Value premise rests on proximity to a known deposit rather than own results.
Why it applies: The company emphasizes the project's proximity to the Madsen Mine and its 'Hub and Spoke model', leveraging existing infrastructure and 'Madsen-style mineralization'.
Evidence · text
“Starratt could form part of the broader strategy to evaluate and advance multiple known gold deposits surrounding the Madsen Mine and mill and delivering on our Hub and Spoke model.”

How Atlas produces this analysis
Minestarters Atlas uses automated extraction to summarize mining announcements, identify reported measurements, and classify supporting evidence. Sentiment reflects the extracted narrative and classification rules; it is an interpretation, not a reported measurement. Evidence quotes and context are provided where available. Missing data, low-confidence results, and review flags indicate limitations. Check the original publisher announcement before relying on an interpretation.
