Summary

Tocvan Ventures announced new drill results from the El Mezquite trend at its Gran Pilar Gold-Silver Project in Sonora, Mexico. Hole JES-26-175, a 130-meter step-out, returned a broad near-surface interval of 106.8 meters grading 0.50 g/t gold and 3.5 g/t silver, within a larger 271.5-meter envelope of 0.26 g/t gold and 2.4 g/t silver. This result significantly expands the known mineralization along the El Mezquite corridor, which is now traced over 1,400 meters and is located near a permitted heap-leach pilot facility.

Reasoning: The drill results from hole JES-26-175 represent a significant step-out extension of the El Mezquite trend, demonstrating broad, near-surface gold-silver mineralization with grades considered strong for a potential heap-leach operation. The intercept of 106.75 m at 0.50 g/t Au and 3.46 g/t Ag, within a larger 271.45 m envelope, extends the known mineralization 130 m north of a previous discovery hole. While the gold grade is slightly below the project's historical average, the exceptional width and near-surface nature are highly positive, especially given the stated heap-leach cut-off grades. The silver grades are low compared to epithermal peers, but gold is the primary focus. The company has disclosed robust QA/QC procedures, but true widths are estimates.

Positive factors

  • Step-Out Extension
  • Broad Mineralization
  • Good Grade for Open Pit/Heap Leach
  • QA/QC Disclosed

Negative factors

  • Apparent Width Only

Classification and evidence

QA/QC Disclosedpositive

Release includes QA/QC disclosure — certified lab, QP sign-off, or stated methods (blanks, standards, duplicates).

Why it applies: The release includes a detailed 'Quality Assurance / Quality Control' section, mentioning certified labs, QP sign-off, and specific assay protocols.

Evidence · text

“Brodie A. Sutherland, Executive Chair for Tocvan Ventures Corp. and a qualified person ("QP") as defined by Canadian National Instrument 43-101, has reviewed and approved the technical information contained in this release. Quality Assurance / Quality Control Rock and Drill samples were shipped for sample preparation to ALS Limited in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico and for analysis at the ALS laboratory in North Vancouver. The ALS Hermosillo and North Vancouver facilities are ISO 9001 and ISO/IEC 17025 certified. Gold was analyzed using 50-gram nominal weight fire assay with atomic absorption spectroscopy finish. Over limits for gold (>10 g/t), were analyzed using fire assay with a gravimetric finish. Silver and other elements were analyzed using a four-acid digestion with an ICP finish. Over limit analyses for silver (>100 g/t) were re-assayed using an ore-grade four-acid digestion with ICP-AES finish. Control samples comprising certified reference samples and blank samples were systematically inserted into the sample stream and analyzed as part of the Company’s robust quality assurance / quality control protocol.”

Reasoning: This broad, near-surface gold intercept of 271.45 m at 0.26 g/t Au is significant for extending mineralization and is considered economic for a heap-leach operation, as highlighted by the CEO. Its location as a step-out from previous discovery holes adds to its novelty and materiality. The grade is moderate for gold but the width is exceptional.

  • Near Surface
  • Good Grade for Open Pit/Heap Leach
  • Step-Out Extension

Reasoning: The silver grade of 2.41 g/t over 271.45 m is low, especially when compared to epithermal silver peer deposits. While contributing to the overall polymetallic nature, it is not a primary driver of value for this intercept, but its broad nature is still positive.

Reasoning: The silver grade of 3.50 g/t over 16.78 m is low, especially when compared to epithermal silver peer deposits. While contributing to the overall polymetallic nature, it is not a primary driver of value for this intercept.

QA/QC Disclosedpositive

Release includes QA/QC disclosure — certified lab, QP sign-off, or stated methods (blanks, standards, duplicates).

Why it applies: qaqc_disclosed is true

Cut-off Undisclosednegative

High-grade interval reported without stating the cut-off grade used for compositing.

Why it applies: no cutoff_grade was stated

Nearology Playneutral

Value premise rests on proximity to a known deposit rather than own results.

Why it applies: proximity is offered as the value premise: "TOCVAN EXPANDS EL MEZQUITE; DRILLING RETURNS 106.8 M OF 0.5 G/T AU 130m North of Discovery hole that returned 215m of 0."

Rejected tags

Rejected tags — excluded from scoring because their label or evidence could not be verified.

Step-Out ExtensionRejected · positive

Mineralization extended beyond the previously known limit.

Reason: Hole JES-26-175 is collared approximately 130 metres north of discovery hole JES-26-155, extending continuous mineralization north.

Evidence · text

“Hole JES-26-175, collared approximately 130 metres north of discovery hole JES-26-155 (215m of 0.6 g/t Au), returned a broad, near-surface gold-silver interval”

Apparent Width OnlyRejected · negative

Interval given as downhole width with no true width or drill orientation — apparent width may overstate true thickness.

Reason: The reported intervals are drilled widths, and true widths are unknown but estimated at 60–80% of drilled widths.

Apparent Width OnlyRejected · negative

Interval given as downhole width with no true width or drill orientation — apparent width may overstate true thickness.

Reason: The reported intervals are drilled widths, and true widths are unknown but estimated at 60–80% of drilled widths.

Positive factors

  • Broad Mineralization
  • Near Surface
  • Good Grade for Open Pit/Heap Leach
  • Step-Out Extension

Negative factors

  • Apparent Width Only

How Atlas produces this analysis

Minestarters Atlas uses automated extraction to summarize mining announcements, identify reported measurements, and classify supporting evidence. Sentiment reflects the extracted narrative and classification rules; it is an interpretation, not a reported measurement. Evidence quotes and context are provided where available. Missing data, low-confidence results, and review flags indicate limitations. Check the original publisher announcement before relying on an interpretation.
