Summary
NorthWest Copper Corp. announced strong copper-gold drill results from its 2026 exploration program at the Kwanika project in British Columbia, including a highlight intercept of 108.7 metres grading 0.70% copper and 1.69 g/t gold (2.53% CuEq). These infill results confirm mineralization continuity and are expected to support an upgrade to the mineral resource, while also identifying new deeper porphyry exploration targets.
Reasoning: The document reports significant copper-gold intercepts from infill drilling that confirm continuity and support resource upgrades, alongside identifying new deeper porphyry exploration targets, all backed by detailed data and QA/QC.
Positive factors
- Long intervals of strong gold-copper mineralization
- Excellent continuity confirmed by infill drilling
- Grades increase confidence in known mineralized system
- New exploration target identified at depth for resource expansion
- True width disclosed for all intercepts
- Comprehensive QA/QC disclosure and QP sign-off
Negative factors
- Cut-off grade for compositing is not disclosed
Low confidence — this extraction should be reviewed alongside the original source.
Facts used in scoring: 96
Classification and evidence
True Width Disclosedpositive
Actual thickness perpendicular to structure is stated, not just downhole length.
Why it applies: The drill results table explicitly provides 'True Width Est. (m)' for each intercept.
Evidence · table
“True Width Est. (m)”
QA/QC Disclosedpositive
Release includes QA/QC disclosure — certified lab, QP sign-off, or stated methods (blanks, standards, duplicates).
Why it applies: The document includes a 'Quality Assurance / Quality Control' section detailing sample handling, laboratory, and methods.
Evidence · text
“Quality Assurance / Quality Control Drilling at Kwanika in 2026 was designed and supervised by NorthWest and implemented by InData Geoscience with assay QA/QC checks by Explore Geosolutions. Samples were collected, tracked and an external QA/QC program was implemented using coarse blanks and certified prepared blanks and standards to monitor analytical accuracy and precision. The samples were sealed on site and shipped to Activation Laboratories Ltd. (“Actlabs”) in Kamloops, BC. The laboratory’s internal quality control system complies with global certifications for quality ISO 17025. Drill core samples were analyzed using a combination of Actlabs multi-element 1F2 analysis for low level concentrations (4-Acid Digestion, ICP-OES) and the 8-4 Acid ICP-OES analysis for higher level concentrations (4-Acid Digestion, ICP-OES with automatic over limits for base metals and silver). Gold, platinum and palladium assaying was completed with 1C-OES method, using a 30-gram fire assay with ICP finish analysis. In addition, about 5% of the sample pulps are re-assayed at a secondary laboratory to confirm reproducibility and check for bias. Technical aspects of this news release have been reviewed, verified, and approved by Geoff Chinn, P.Geo., VP Business Development and Exploration for NorthWest, who is a qualified person as defined by National Instrument 43-101 – Standards of Disclosure for Mineral Projects.”
Infill Drillingneutral
Confirmatory drilling to raise resource confidence, not new discovery.
Why it applies: The document states that the holes were 'infill holes drilled at the eastern end of the Western Zone' and 'designed to improve confidence in the mineral resource'.
Evidence · text
“infill holes drilled at the eastern end of the Western Zone”
Step-Out Extensionpositive
Mineralization extended beyond the previously known limit.
Why it applies: The program was designed to 'extend mineralization' and identified 'a new exploration target for potential resource expansion' at depth.
Evidence · text
“extend mineralization”
Cut-off Undisclosednegative
High-grade interval reported without stating the cut-off grade used for compositing.
Why it applies: The document does not state the cut-off grade used for compositing the reported intervals.
Evidence · text
“The document does not state the cut-off grade used for compositing.”
Bonanza Interceptpositive
Exceptionally high-grade zone, well above the deposit-type norm.
Why it applies: Hole K-26-267 intersected 1.7 metres grading 15.40 g/t gold, which is well above the exceptional threshold for porphyry gold.
Evidence · table
“15.40”

Reasoning: Expanded from assay table. 0.4 % copper is strong against the porphyry deposit band [0.8, 0.4, 0.25, 0.15] %. Grade×width 4.2 %·m is below (grade alone is strong; the better of the two is used).
Positive factors
- 0.4 % copper is strong on the porphyry deposit band.
Negative factors
- Scored from rubric bands during table expansion, not from document context.

How Atlas produces this analysis
Minestarters Atlas uses automated extraction to summarize mining announcements, identify reported measurements, and classify supporting evidence. Sentiment reflects the extracted narrative and classification rules; it is an interpretation, not a reported measurement. Evidence quotes and context are provided where available. Missing data, low-confidence results, and review flags indicate limitations. Check the original publisher announcement before relying on an interpretation.
