Summary
Northwest Copper reported drill results from its Kwanika project in British Columbia, highlighted by an intercept of 31.4 metres grading 0.92% copper and 1.08 g/t gold (2.11% CuEq) from 78 metres in hole K-26-306. These results, part of a 40-hole program, extended high-grade gold-copper mineralization in the Pit Zone and reduced drill hole spacing to 50 metres to support future resource upgrades. The company noted that mineralization was extended both up-dip towards the overburden contact and eastward, improving geological and grade continuity.
Reasoning: The headline intercept in K-26-306 is strong, exceeding the project's average grades for both copper and gold, and is considered strong for a porphyry deposit. The program successfully extended mineralization and reduced drill spacing to support resource upgrades. True widths and robust QA/QC enhance confidence.
Positive factors
- High-grade copper and gold intercept (31.4m at 0.92% Cu and 1.08 g/t Au, 2.11% CuEq) is above project average for both metals and strong for porphyry copper.
- Mineralization extended up-dip and eastward, expanding the known footprint.
- True widths are estimated and disclosed for all intercepts.
- Comprehensive QA/QC procedures are disclosed, including certified lab, QP sign-off, blanks, standards, and check assays.
- Metal equivalent assumptions are fully disclosed.
Low confidence — this extraction should be reviewed alongside the original source.

Classification and evidence
True Width Disclosedpositive
Actual thickness perpendicular to structure is stated, not just downhole length.
Why it applies: The document explicitly states 'True Width Est. (m)' for all reported intercepts in Table 1, providing estimated true widths.
Evidence · table
“True Width Est. (m)”
QA/QC Disclosedpositive
Release includes QA/QC disclosure — certified lab, QP sign-off, or stated methods (blanks, standards, duplicates).
Why it applies: The release includes a 'Quality Assurance / Quality Control' section detailing the use of coarse blanks, certified prepared blanks and standards, a certified laboratory (Actlabs, ISO 17025), and re-assaying at a secondary laboratory, with sign-off by a Qualified Person (Geoff Chinn, P.Geo.).
Evidence · text
“Quality Assurance / Quality Control Drilling at Kwanika in 2026 was designed and supervised by NorthWest and implemented by InData Geoscience with assay QA/QC checks by Explore Geosolutions. Samples were collected, tracked and an external QA/QC program was implemented using coarse blanks and certified prepared blanks and standards to monitor analytical accuracy and precision. The samples were sealed on site and shipped to Activation Laboratories Ltd. (“Actlabs”) in Kamloops, BC. The laboratory’s internal quality control system complies with global certifications for quality ISO 17025. Drill core samples were analyzed using a combination of Actlabs multi-element 1F2 analysis for low level concentrations (4-Acid Digestion, ICP-OES) and the 8-4 Acid ICP-OES analysis for higher level concentrations (4-Acid Digestion, ICP-OES with automatic over limits for base metals and silver). Gold, platinum and palladium assaying was completed with 1C-OES method, using a 30-gram fire assay with ICP finish analysis. In addition, about 5% of the sample pulps are re-assayed at a secondary laboratory to confirm reproducibility and check for bias. Technical aspects of this news release have been reviewed, verified, and approved by Geoff Chinn, P.Geo., VP Business Development and Exploration for NorthWest, who is a qualified person as defined by National Instrument 43-101 – Standards of Disclosure for Mineral Projects.”
Step-Out Extensionpositive
Mineralization extended beyond the previously known limit.
Why it applies: The company states the holes targeted the northern end of the Pit Zone 'to extend mineralization' and that they achieved 'incremental extensions to multiple mineralized trends'.
Evidence · text
“The holes form part of NorthWest’s 40-hole, 12,000 metre drill program and targeted the northern end of the Pit Zone to extend mineralization and reduce drill hole spacing to support increased confidence in the mineral resource.”
Infill Drillingneutral
Confirmatory drilling to raise resource confidence, not new discovery.
Why it applies: The release explicitly states the program aims to 'reduce drill hole spacing to 50 metres to support upgrading of mineral resources' and 'reduce drill hole spacing to approximately 50 metres to support potential upgrading of mineral resources'.
Evidence · text
“Continue to reduce drill hole spacing to 50 metres to support upgrading of mineral resources”

Reasoning: Expanded from assay table. 0.13 g/t gold is below against the porphyry deposit band [1, 0.5, 0.3, 0.15] g/t. Grade×width 5.1 g/t·m is below.
Negative factors
- 0.13 g/t gold is below the weak threshold (0.15 g/t) on the porphyry deposit band.
- Scored from rubric bands during table expansion, not from document context.

Tags used in scoring
True Width Disclosedpositive
Actual thickness perpendicular to structure is stated, not just downhole length.
Why it applies: true_width_m is 35.3
QA/QC Disclosedpositive
Release includes QA/QC disclosure — certified lab, QP sign-off, or stated methods (blanks, standards, duplicates).
Why it applies: qaqc_disclosed is true
Cut-off Undisclosednegative
High-grade interval reported without stating the cut-off grade used for compositing.
Why it applies: no cutoff_grade was stated
Nearology Playneutral
Value premise rests on proximity to a known deposit rather than own results.
Why it applies: proximity is offered as the value premise: "Zodiac Gold Identifies New Critical Mineral and Gold Anomalies Across Liberian Northwest Licenses Auro Metals Intersects"

Reasoning: Expanded from assay table. 0.78 g/t silver is below against the default band [500, 200, 100, 30] g/t. Grade×width 30.4 g/t·m is below.
Negative factors
- 0.78 g/t silver is below the weak threshold (30 g/t) on the default band.
- Scored from rubric bands during table expansion, not from document context.

How Atlas produces this analysis
Minestarters Atlas uses automated extraction to summarize mining announcements, identify reported measurements, and classify supporting evidence. Sentiment reflects the extracted narrative and classification rules; it is an interpretation, not a reported measurement. Evidence quotes and context are provided where available. Missing data, low-confidence results, and review flags indicate limitations. Check the original publisher announcement before relying on an interpretation.
