Summary
LAURION Mineral Exploration reported assay results from its 2026 Phase 1 diamond drilling program at the Ishkōday Gold and Polymetallic Project in Northwestern Ontario. Highlights include 9.90 m grading 0.563 g/t Au and 4.55 m grading 0.76% Cu and 12.29 g/t Ag, with a higher-grade sub-interval of 1.70 m grading 1.56% Cu and 24.45 g/t Ag. The program, which includes infill, expansion, and exploration drilling, is designed to advance the A-Zone towards a potential maiden Mineral Resource Estimate, with deeper unexpected gold intervals providing new geological information.
Reasoning: The drill results from the Ishkōday project include high-grade copper and strong gold intercepts, some of which surpass prior best results, and contribute to the advancement towards a maiden MRE. The discovery of unexpected deeper mineralization adds significant exploration upside, supported by robust QA/QC.
Positive factors
- Strong copper and gold intercepts, with several copper grades exceeding previous bests for the project.
- Discovery of deeper, unexpected gold-bearing intervals in LBX26-110, indicating potential for new mineralization zones.
- Drilling program is designed to advance the A-Zone towards a potential maiden Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE).
- Comprehensive QA/QC protocols disclosed, including certified laboratories and QP sign-off, enhancing data reliability.
Negative factors
- True widths of intercepts have not yet been determined, which may overstate actual thickness.
- Cut-off grade used for interval calculation is not explicitly disclosed, limiting comparability.
- Some zinc grades are significantly below the project's average.
Low confidence — this extraction should be reviewed alongside the original source.
Facts used in scoring: 87
Classification and evidence
Apparent Width Onlynegative
Interval given as downhole width with no true width or drill orientation — apparent width may overstate true thickness.
Why it applies: The release explicitly states that 'All Core lengths are drilled thicknesses; true widths have not yet been determined.'
Evidence · text
“All Core lengths are drilled thicknesses; true widths have not yet been determined.”
QA/QC Disclosedpositive
Release includes QA/QC disclosure — certified lab, QP sign-off, or stated methods (blanks, standards, duplicates).
Why it applies: The document includes a detailed 'Sampling and QA/QC Protocols' section, mentioning external standards, blanks, duplicates, and certified laboratories.
Evidence · text
“LAURION employs an industry standard system of external standards, blanks and duplicates for all of its sampling, in addition to the QA/QC protocol employed by the laboratory. After logging, core samples were identified and then cut in half along the core axis in the same building and then zip tied individually in plastic sample bags with a bar code. Approximately five or six of these individual bags were then stacked into a “rice” white material bag and stored on a skid for final shipment to the laboratory. All core samples were shipped to the ALS facility in Thunder Bay, Ontario, which were then prepared by ALS Global Geochemistry in Thunder Bay and analyzed by ALS Global Analytical Lab in North Vancouver, British Columbia. Samples are processed by 4-acid digestion and analyzed by fire assay on 50 g pulps and ICP-AES (Inductively Coupled Plasma – Atomic Emission Spectroscopy). Over limit analyses are reprocessed with gravimetric finish. A total of 5% blanks and 5% standards are inserted randomly within all samples. 5% of the best assay result pulps were sent for re-assays. All QA/QC results were verified, and no contamination or bias was observed. The remaining half of the core, as well as the unsampled core, is stored in temporary core racks at the core logging facility in Beardmore before being moved to the core storage facility at the Ishkōday Project.”
Cut-off Undisclosednegative
High-grade interval reported without stating the cut-off grade used for compositing.
Why it applies: The document states that 'Intervals are calculated using a nominal cut-off' but does not specify the actual cut-off grade value.
Evidence · text
“Intervals are calculated using a nominal cut-off and may include internal dilution”
Compositing Transparentpositive
Cut-off grade and internal dilution rules are clearly stated for reported intervals.
Why it applies: The document explicitly states that intervals 'may include internal dilution', indicating transparency regarding compositing rules.
Evidence · text
“Intervals are calculated using a nominal cut-off and may include internal dilution”
Step-Out Extensionpositive
Mineralization extended beyond the previously known limit.
Why it applies: Hole LBX26-110 encountered deeper, unexpected gold-bearing intervals, providing new geological information for potential follow-up evaluation.
Evidence · text
“These deeper intervals were unexpected and provide new geological information for potential follow-up evaluation in the future.”
Infill Drillingneutral
Confirmatory drilling to raise resource confidence, not new discovery.
Why it applies: The 2026 Phase 1 drill program is described as including 'targeted infill, expansion and exploration drilling'.
Evidence · text
“Through targeted infill, expansion and exploration drilling, LAURION’s 2026 Phase 1 drill program is designed to systematically advance the A-Zone”
QP/CP Signedpositive · Story-specific tag
Qualified Person (QP) or Competent Person (CP) named and signed off — a member of a recognized professional association (e.g., AusIMM, SME, AIG, P.Geo) with relevant experience.
Why it applies: The technical contents of the press release have been reviewed and approved by Dr. Trevor Boyd, Ph.D., P.Geo., a Qualified Person.
Evidence · text
“The technical contents of this press release have been reviewed and approved by Dr. Trevor Boyd, Ph.D., P.Geo., a consultant to LAURION and a Qualified Person as defined by National Instrument 43-101 – Standards of Disclosure for Mineral Projects(“NI 43-101”).”

How Atlas produces this analysis
Minestarters Atlas uses automated extraction to summarize mining announcements, identify reported measurements, and classify supporting evidence. Sentiment reflects the extracted narrative and classification rules; it is an interpretation, not a reported measurement. Evidence quotes and context are provided where available. Missing data, low-confidence results, and review flags indicate limitations. Check the original publisher announcement before relying on an interpretation.
