Analysis by Minestarters Atlas
Minestarters Atlas analysis
Summary
K2 Gold Corporation announced high-grade gold drill results from the first three holes at its Mojave Project's Dragonfly Zone, including 39.62m of 5.35 g/t Au and 10.67m of 7.75 g/t Au. These results represent a 40-metre step-out from previous discoveries, confirming and extending a high-grade oxide gold system. The company has completed 15 holes of a 14,000-metre drill program, with additional results pending.
Reasoning: The drill results from the Mojave Project are highly positive, revealing significant high-grade oxide gold intercepts in step-out drilling, which extends the known mineralization. The comprehensive QA/QC procedures and accredited lab provide high confidence in the results, although the lack of true width information introduces some uncertainty.
Positive factors
- High-grade gold intercepts (e.g., 39.62m of 5.35 g/t Au, 10.67m of 7.75 g/t Au)
- Significant intercept widths
- Successful 40m step-out drilling extending mineralization
- Oxide gold mineralization, typically amenable to lower-cost processing
- Comprehensive QA/QC disclosure with QP sign-off and accredited lab
Negative factors
- True widths of mineralized structures are currently unknown
Facts used in scoring: 15

Classification and evidence
Bonanza Interceptpositive
Exceptionally high-grade zone, well above the deposit-type norm.
Why it applies: Hole DF26-020 returned 39.62m of 5.35 g/t Au, including 25.91m of 7.14 g/t Au, and DF26-019 returned 10.67m of 7.75 g/t Au, which are exceptionally high grades for an oxide gold system.
Evidence · text
“DF26-020: 39.62m of 5.35 g/t Au from 51.82m down hole, including 25.91 m of 7.14 g/t Au DF26-019: 10.67m of 7.75 g/t Au from 16.76m down hole”
Step-Out Extensionpositive
Mineralization extended beyond the previously known limit.
Why it applies: The reported drill holes represent a 40-metre step-out north from K2’s 2020 discovery intercepts, successfully extending the known mineralization.
Evidence · text
“Results from drilling at the first pad at the Dragonfly Zone confirm the presence of a high-grade oxide gold system in a 40m step out hole north from K2’s 2020 discovery intercepts.”
QA/QC Disclosedpositive
Release includes QA/QC disclosure — certified lab, QP sign-off, or stated methods (blanks, standards, duplicates).
Why it applies: The release explicitly states that the technical information was reviewed by a QP, analytical work was performed by an internationally recognized and accredited lab (ALS), and QA/QC procedures included blanks and standards.
Evidence · text
“The technical information in this news release has been prepared in accordance with Canadian regulatory requirements set out in NI 43-101 and reviewed and approved by Eric Buitenhuis, M.Sc., P.Geo., K2’s QP and Vice President of Exploration. The analytical work for the 2026 drilling program was performed by ALS Laboratories (“ALS”) an internationally recognized and accredited analytical services provider. All samples were submitted to ALS’s Reno, Nevada facility where they were prepared using procedure PREP-31Y (dry, crush entire sample to 2mm, rotary split and pulverize 250g to better than 85% passing 75 microns). Samples were then shipped to the ALS laboratory in North Vancouver, BC, Canada, where pulp samples were analysed for gold by method Au-ICP21, a 30-gram Fire Assay fusion with an ICP-AES finish. Samples returning >10 g/t Au by Fire Assay were subsequently analysed with method Au-GRA21, a 30-gram fire assay with a gravimetric finish. A 0.25g pulp was analysed by method ME-MS61, a 4-acid digestion and ICP-MS finish for 48 elements. Quality Assurance and Quality Control procedures include the insertion of coarse blanks and certified assay standards into the sample string at a rate of approximately 1/10 (10%).”
Apparent Width Onlynegative
Interval given as downhole width with no true width or drill orientation — apparent width may overstate true thickness.
Why it applies: The document explicitly states that reported widths are drilled widths and may not represent true thickness at this time, and that true widths of the mineralized structures are unknown.
Evidence · text
“At present time, true widths of the mineralized structures at Dragonfly are unknown. *Reported widths are drilled widths and may not represent true thickness at this time.”

Reasoning: This intercept shows a strong gold grade over a good width, contributing to the overall positive results of the step-out drilling program. The oxide nature of the mineralization is favorable, but the lack of true width information is a minor drawback.
Positive factors
- Strong gold grade for an oxide system
- Good intercept width
- Part of a successful step-out program
Negative factors
- True width unknown

- Very significant intercept width
- Confirms high-grade oxide system in step-out drilling
Negative factors

Reasoning: This sub-interval is an exceptional high-grade gold result over a very significant width, further highlighting the bonanza-grade potential within the broader mineralized zone and reinforcing the positive implications of the drilling.
Positive factors
- Exceptional high-grade gold sub-interval
- Very significant intercept width
- Confirms bonanza-grade potential within broader zone
Negative factors
- True width unknown

How Atlas produces this analysis
Minestarters Atlas uses automated extraction to summarize mining announcements, identify reported measurements, and classify supporting evidence. Sentiment reflects the extracted narrative and classification rules; it is an interpretation, not a reported measurement. Evidence quotes and context are provided where available. Missing data, low-confidence results, and review flags indicate limitations. Check the original publisher announcement before relying on an interpretation.
