Minestarters Atlas analysis

Summary

K2 Gold Corporation announced high-grade gold drill results from the final four holes of its first phase of drilling at the Dragonfly Zone of the Mojave Project. Highlights include 83.82m of 3.40 g/t Au, including 19.81m of 7.58 g/t Au, extending mineralization to the north. The results validate historical drilling and demonstrate continuity of high-grade oxide gold, though true widths are currently unknown.

Reasoning: K2 Gold reported high-grade and wide gold intercepts from its Dragonfly Zone, extending mineralization to the north and validating historical results. While QA/QC is disclosed, the true width of the intercepts remains unknown, and one key hole was drilled obliquely.

Positive factors

  • High-grade gold intercepts
  • Significant intercept widths
  • Extension of mineralization to the north
  • Validation of historical results
  • QA/QC disclosed
  • QP signed

Negative factors

  • True width unknown for reported intercepts
  • Oblique drilling orientation for key intercept

“The technical information in this news release has been prepared in accordance with Canadian regulatory requirements set out in NI 43-101 and reviewed and approved by Eric Buitenhuis, M.Sc., P.Geo., K2’s QP and Vice President of Exploration. The analytical work for the 2026 drilling program was performed by ALS Laboratories (“ALS”) an internationally recognized and accredited analytical services provider. All samples were submitted to ALS’s Reno, Nevada facility, where they were prepared using procedure PREP-31Y (dry, crush entire sample to 2mm, rotary split and pulverize 250g to better than 85% passing 75 microns). Samples were then shipped to the ALS laboratory in North Vancouver, BC, Canada, where pulp samples were analysed for gold by method Au-ICP21, a 30-gram Fire Assay fusion with an ICP-AES finish. Samples returning >10 g/t Au by Fire Assay were subsequently analysed with method Au-GRA21, a 30-gram fire assay with a gravimetric finish. A 0.25g pulp was analysed by method ME-MS61, a 4-acid digestion and ICP-MS finish for 48 elements. Samples returning Quality Assurance and Quality Control procedures include inserting coarse blanks and certified assay standards into the sample string at a rate of approximately 1/10 (10%).”

Tags used in scoring

Cut-off Undisclosednegative

High-grade interval reported without stating the cut-off grade used for compositing.

Why it applies: no cutoff_grade was stated

Infill Drillingneutral

Confirmatory drilling to raise resource confidence, not new discovery.

Why it applies: drill_program_type is "mixed"

Nearology Playneutral

Value premise rests on proximity to a known deposit rather than own results.

Why it applies: proximity is offered as the value premise: "Read More September 22, 2026 07:00 ET | Source: K2 Gold Corporation K2 Drills 53.34m of 2.00 g/t Au at Dragonfly, Includ"

Rejected tags — excluded from scoring because their label or evidence could not be verified.

Apparent Width OnlyRejected · negative

Interval given as downhole width with no true width or drill orientation — apparent width may overstate true thickness.

Reason: Reported widths are drilled lengths; true thicknesses of mineralization are currently unknown.

Evidence · text

“Reported widths are drilled lengths; true thicknesses of mineralization are currently unknown.”

QA/QC DisclosedRejected · positive

Release includes QA/QC disclosure — certified lab, QP sign-off, or stated methods (blanks, standards, duplicates).

Reason: The release states that the technical information has been reviewed and approved by a QP and details QA/QC procedures including blanks and certified assay standards.

Evidence · text

“The technical information in this news release has been prepared in accordance with Canadian regulatory requirements set out in NI 43-101 and reviewed and approved by Eric Buitenhuis, M.Sc., P.Geo., K2’s QP and Vice President of Exploration.”

QP/CP SignedRejected · positive · Story-specific tag

Qualified Person (QP) or Competent Person (CP) named and signed off — a member of a recognized professional association (e.g., AusIMM, SME, AIG, P.Geo) with relevant experience.

Reason: The technical information was reviewed and approved by Eric Buitenhuis, M.Sc., P.Geo., K2’s QP.

Reasoning: An exceptional grade gold intercept over a moderate width, forming a high-grade core within a broader zone, but true width is not known.

Positive factors

  • Exceptional grade
  • Moderate intercept width

Negative factors

  • Apparent width only

How Atlas produces this analysis

Minestarters Atlas uses automated extraction to summarize mining announcements, identify reported measurements, and classify supporting evidence. Sentiment reflects the extracted narrative and classification rules; it is an interpretation, not a reported measurement. Evidence quotes and context are provided where available. Missing data, low-confidence results, and review flags indicate limitations. Check the original publisher announcement before relying on an interpretation.
