Summary
Cascadia Minerals has announced significant drill results from its Carmacks project in central Yukon, with step-out drilling doubling the strike length of the high-grade Zone 2000S. Hole CD-26-056 returned 82.69 meters averaging 1.12% copper and 0.64 g/t gold, including a bonanza intercept of 49.16 meters at 1.63% copper and 0.95 g/t gold, marking one of the strongest intersections on the property. The company has expanded its 2026 drill program to 18,000 meters to follow up on these extensions, which have pushed mineralization 300 meters beyond the existing resource.
Reasoning: Cascadia Minerals' latest step-out drilling at the Carmacks project has significantly extended the high-grade Zone 2000S, doubling its strike length and encountering several strong copper-gold intercepts, including one of the highest-grade holes ever reported on the property. The expanded drill program and discovery in a previously thought barren area are highly positive, though the lack of QA/QC disclosure and true width information reduces confidence slightly.
Positive factors
- Bonanza Intercept
- Step-Out Extension
- High-grade results
- Expanded drill program
- Discovery in previously thought barren area
Negative factors
- No QA/QC Disclosure
- Apparent Width Only
- Cut-off Undisclosed
- Stale Estimate
- No QP/CP Disclosure
- Historical Estimate Only
Low confidence — this extraction should be reviewed alongside the original source.

“82.69 meters averaging 1.12% copper and 0.64 g/t gold in hole CD-26-056 at Zone 2000S, including 49.16 meters averaging 1.63% copper with 0.95 g/t gold.”
Step-Out Extensionpositive
Mineralization extended beyond the previously known limit.
Why it applies: Step-out drilling has extended Zone 2000S mineralization more than 250 meters beyond the historical boundary and 300 meters beyond the existing resource, doubling its historically defined strike length.
Evidence · text
“successive step-outs had pushed Zone 2000S mineralization more than 250 meters beyond the historical boundary by August as Cascadia continued drilling toward Zone 147. With 26 holes totaling 13,106 meters now completed, drilling has encountered sulfide mineralization 300 meters beyond the existing resource at Zone 2000S, doubling its historically defined strike length from roughly 300 meters to 600 meters.”

Cascadia Minerals Ltd. Sept. 1 reported one of the strongest copper-gold intersections drilled at its Carmacks project in central Yukon, where continued step-out drilling has doubled the strike length of Zone 2000S. Located roughly 35 kilometers (22 miles) southeast of the past producing Minto copper mine, Cascadia's 180-square-kilometer (69 square miles) Carmacks property covers a large portion of the Minto Copper Belt, an 180-by-60-kilometer (112 by 37 miles) belt of intrusion-related copper-gold-silver deposits. According to a 2022 calculation, Carmacks hosts 36.3 million metric tons of measured and indicated resources averaging 0.81% copper (651 million pounds), 0.26 grams per metric ton gold (302,000 ounces), 3.23 g/t silver, and 0.01% molybdenum, plus inferred resources of 2.9 million metric tons averaging 0.60% copper (38 million lb), 0.16 g/t gold (13,000 oz), 2.34 g/t silver, and 0.02% molybdenum. Comprising three principal zones – 147, 2000S, and 1213 – that come to surface and remain open to expansion in multiple directions, the Carmacks deposit has been the focus of deeper and lateral drilling targeting mineralization left largely untested by earlier work focused on shallower oxide copper. Launched in May as a 15,000-meter campaign, the 2026 program marked the largest drill effort at Carmacks since 2007 and the first significant campaign aimed at expanding its sulfide resources. Highlights from previous drilling include: • 106.62 meters averaging 0.79% copper with 0.28 g/t gold in hole CD-26-046 at Zone 2000S, including 23.15 meters averaging 1.42% copper with 0.51 g/t gold. • 98.16 meters averaging 0.92% copper with 0.11 g/t gold in hole CD-26-041 at Zone 147, including 21.14 meters averaging 2.38% copper with 0.3 g/t gold. • 52.84 meters averaging 1.04% copper with 0.37 g/t gold in hole CD-26-050 at Zone 2000S, including 11.68 meters averaging 2.59% copper with 0.98 g/t gold. • 91 meters averaging 0.69% copper with 0.24 g/t gold in hole CD-26-048 at Zone 2000S, including 38.94 meters averaging 0.84% copper with 0.33 g/t gold. Beginning with a roughly 60-meter extension north of the existing resource in July, successive step-outs had pushed Zone 2000S mineralization more than 250 meters beyond the historical boundary by August as Cascadia continued drilling toward Zone 147. With 26 holes totaling 13,106 meters now completed, drilling has encountered sulfide mineralization 300 meters beyond the existing resource at Zone 2000S, doubling its historically defined strike length from roughly 300 meters to 600 meters. Results from five additional holes include: • 82.69 meters averaging 1.12% copper with 0.64 g/t gold in hole CD-26-056 at Zone 2000S, including 49.16 meters averaging 1.63% copper with 0.95 g/t gold. • 76.31 meters averaging 0.48% copper with 0.23 g/t gold in hole CD-26-054 at Zone 2000S, including 12.56 meters averaging 0.73% copper with 0.48 g/t gold. • 38.32 meters averaging 0.42% copper with 0.10 g/t gold in hole CD-26-052 at Zone 147. Drilled roughly 70 meters northwest of CD-26-050, hole CD-26-056 returned one of the highest-grade intersections Cascadia has reported from Carmacks while continuing the northern extension of Zone 2000S. Along with the stronger copper grades, drilling in this northern extension has encountered higher gold relative to copper than is typical elsewhere in the deposit, as well as elevated molybdenum. "The interval drilled in hole 56 is one of the strongest intersections ever returned on the property," said Cascadia President and CEO Graham Downs. "The discovery of this significant extension of Zone 2000S in an area previously thought to be barren is extremely encouraging." Beyond the high-grade interval in hole CD-26-056, drilling at Zone 2000S has continued in multiple directions, with deeper work extending mineralization to a vertical depth of 467 meters from surface and northern step-outs narrowing the untested ground between it and Zone 147 to about 300 meters. With results still pending from six additional step-out holes, Cascadia has expanded this year's drill program from 15,000 meters to approximately 18,000 meters to allow additional follow-up work at the northern extension this fall. Elsewhere around the Carmacks deposit, additional drilling at Zone 147 returned more modest mineralization, while work at the Sourtoe target identified non-copper-bearing sulfides responsible for a geophysical anomaly but did not explain copper mineralization exposed in surface trenches. No additional drilling is planned at Sourtoe this year. Beyond the main deposit, three holes have been completed at Zone 14, roughly 500 meters east of Zone 1213, while drilling is now underway at Zone A, roughly 11 kilometers (seven miles) northwest of Carmacks, where historical work encountered near-surface, high-grade copper-gold mineralization. How Atlas produces this analysis
Minestarters Atlas uses automated extraction to summarize mining announcements, identify reported measurements, and classify supporting evidence. Sentiment reflects the extracted narrative and classification rules; it is an interpretation, not a reported measurement. Evidence quotes and context are provided where available. Missing data, low-confidence results, and review flags indicate limitations. Check the original publisher announcement before relying on an interpretation.
