Minestarters Atlas analysis
Summary
AbraSilver reported new assay results from its Phase VI exploration drill program at the Cerro Viejo target on its Diablillos project in Argentina, revealing broad zones of near-surface oxide-hosted gold and deeper copper mineralization. These results highlight the exploration potential beyond the recently completed Definitive Feasibility Study. The company also provided an updated Mineral Resource Estimate for the Diablillos project, effective April 30, 2026, showing significant Measured and Indicated resources for both tank leach and heap leach oxides.
Reasoning: The drill results indicate broad, shallow gold mineralization and deeper copper, expanding the project's exploration potential. While true widths are unknown, the grades and widths are encouraging for an exploration target. The document also provides a recent resource update, which is positive for project de-risking, although the cutoff method is complex.
Positive factors
- Broad zones of near-surface gold mineralization
- Confirmation of copper mineralization at depth, suggesting a larger porphyry system
- Exploration potential beyond existing resources/reserves
- Comprehensive QA/QC disclosure and QP sign-off
Negative factors
- True widths are not yet known for drill intercepts
- Metallurgical testwork not completed for Cerro Viejo mineralization
- Resource estimate uses a net value per block calculation rather than a simple grade cutoff
Low confidence — this extraction should be reviewed alongside the original source.
Facts used in scoring: 68
Classification and evidence
Apparent Width Onlynegative
Interval given as downhole width with no true width or drill orientation — apparent width may overstate true thickness.
Why it applies: The document explicitly states 'Widths are reported as drilled; true widths are not yet known.' for the highlight drill results.
Evidence · text
“Widths are reported as drilled; true widths are not yet known.”
QA/QC Disclosedpositive
Release includes QA/QC disclosure — certified lab, QP sign-off, or stated methods (blanks, standards, duplicates).
Why it applies: The release details industry standard exploration methodologies, insertion of blanks, certified reference materials, duplicate core samples, chain-of-custody, and specifies the laboratory (Alex Stewart Argentina) and assay methods.
Evidence · text
“AbraSilver applies industry standard exploration methodologies and techniques, and all drill core samples are collected under the supervision of the Company's geologists in accordance with industry best practices. Drill core is transported from the drill platform to the logging facility where drill data is compared and verified with the core in the trays. Thereafter, it is logged, photographed, and split by diamond saw prior to being sampled. Samples are then bagged, and quality control materials are inserted at regular intervals at site; these include blanks and certified reference materials as well as duplicate core samples which are collected in order to assess sampling precision and reproducibility. Groups of samples are then placed in large bags which are sealed with numbered tags in order to maintain a chain-of-custody during the transport of the samples from the project site to the laboratory. All samples are received by the ASA (Alex Stewart Argentina) preparation laboratory in Salta, where they are prepared, then the pulp sachet is directly dispatched to its facility in Mendoza, Argentina, where they are analyzed. All samples are analyzed using a multi-element technique consisting of a four-acid digestion followed by ICP/AES detection, and gold is analyzed by 50g Fire Assay with an AAS finish. Silver results greater than 100g/t are re-analyzed using four acid digestion with an ore grade AAS finish.”
QP/CP Signedpositive
Qualified Person (QP) or Competent Person (CP) named and signed off — a member of a recognized professional association (e.g., AusIMM, SME, AIG, P.Geo) with relevant experience.
Why it applies: David O'Connor P.Geo., Chief Geologist for AbraSilver, is the Qualified Person as defined by National Instrument 43-101 and has reviewed and approved the scientific and technical information.
Evidence · text
“David O'Connor P.Geo., Chief Geologist for AbraSilver, is the Qualified Person as defined by National Instrument 43-101 Standards of Disclosure for Mineral Projects, and he has reviewed and approved the scientific and technical information in this news release.”
Exploration Drillingneutral · Story-specific tag
No canonical definition is currently available.
Why it applies: The drilling is described as part of the 'ongoing Phase VI exploration drill program' and is testing 'new targets including Cerro Viejo'.
Evidence · text
“ongoing Phase VI exploration drill program at its wholly-owned Diablillos project in Argentina (the "Project").”
Stale Data Re-releasenegative
Historical results re-announced with no new assays or reinterpretation — low genuine novelty.
Why it applies: The document references 'Initial reconnaissance drilling at Cerro Viejo conducted in 2024' and provides specific results from hole DDH 24-056, explicitly linking to a news release dated January 27, 2025.
Evidence · text
“Initial reconnaissance drilling at Cerro Viejo conducted in 2024 returned 36.0 metres ("m") grading 1.91 g/t gold from a downhole depth of only 87 m in hole DDH 24-056, including 5.0 m grading 7.22 g/t gold (see the Company's news release dated [January 27, 2025](https://api.newsfilecorp.com/redirect/xEaAxuVbAE)).”

Cut-off Undisclosednegative
High-grade interval reported without stating the cut-off grade used for compositing.
Why it applies: The resource estimate footnotes describe a 'Net Value per block [NVB] calculation' and metal prices used for a conceptual pit shell, but do not provide a simple grade cut-off for reporting the resource.
Evidence · text
“A Net Value per block [NVB] calculation was used to constrain the Mineral Resource, determine the "Benefits = Income-Cost"”
Resource Updateneutral

Evidence · text
“Table 2 - Diablillos Mineral Resource Estimate – As of April 30, 2026”
PFS-Supportingneutral
Resource estimate prepared to support a Pre-Feasibility Study — requires adequate M&I component.
Why it applies: The resource estimate underpins the recently completed Definitive Feasibility Study (DFS), which is a higher-level study than PFS.
Evidence · text
“These results further highlight the exploration potential of the Diablillos property beyond the Mineral Resources and Mineral Reserves that underpin the recently completed Definitive Feasibility Study ("DFS").”

Reasoning: This is a good width of near-surface gold in the oxide zone, which is positive for potential open-pit extraction. The grade is moderate for an open-pit gold target.
Positive factors
- Broad intercept length
- Shallow depth
- Oxide-hosted mineralization
Negative factors
- Apparent width only

Reasoning: This intercept confirms deeper copper mineralization consistent with a porphyry system, which is a positive exploration vector. The grade is strong for a porphyry deposit.
Positive factors
- Confirmation of sulphide copper mineralization at depth
- Grade is strong for porphyry copper

How Atlas produces this analysis
Minestarters Atlas uses automated extraction to summarize mining announcements, identify reported measurements, and classify supporting evidence. Sentiment reflects the extracted narrative and classification rules; it is an interpretation, not a reported measurement. Evidence quotes and context are provided where available. Missing data, low-confidence results, and review flags indicate limitations. Check the original publisher announcement before relying on an interpretation.
